Inspired to help support the struggle of Buddhist monks in Burma, Kit Cornell created this series of gorgeous black ceramic bowls. She donates half the proceeds from the sale of her Burma Bowls to their cause.
Glazed in rare Albany slip (Cornell makes all her own glazes from scratch), this bowl is food-safe and thrown in a shape that echoes the form of the alms bowls carried by the Burmese monks.
The potter writes, “Bowls speak to the essential human need to hold and share that which gives and sustains life… As I made these pieces, my thoughts were with the Burmese monks protesting the repressive regime under which they live.”
Measures approximately 3 1/2” high and 5 1/4” in diameter.
